Boarding House
Danbo International College has an ultramodern boarding house to accommodate boarders of boys and girls of age 10-18yrs.
The Hostel is "A Friendly home away from home". The hostel is about 300 meters away from the College. There is a walkway through the back for boarders to get to the hostel without getting out of School.
The Students who live in the hostel have been placed under our utmost care and guidance hence there are residential staff that care for students. Meals and after School activities are supervised and followed together by all the students.
The hostel has its own behavioural policy and daily routine, which is reviewed from time to time. Every boarder is allocated to a room and led by a room leader. Boarders have a locker each where all their belongings are kept under lock and key.
All boarders are registered with the private medical practitioner just a walking distance too the School and hostel. There is also amongst the residential staff a staff nurse who monitors student health; parents are notified and kept informed of their children health progress.
There is very good communication between the hostel and the school as the House Master/ Mistress, and Dorm Matron attend form tutors meetings and they are kept informed of the student academics progress by their tutors. The two prep hours set aside each day and time for personal study encouraged good study habits.
Access to the networked computer in the computer lab is bonus when topics have to be researched or coursework completed. If you are a boarder you have the option of after School activities without having to travel with all the major facilities in the School. You also benefit from supervised homework during evening prep, which teaches discipline for university life. Home is now accessible for the boarders with our 24-hour Internet service enabling students to email their parents. Boarders may go home during mid term break or my chose to stay in School. This flexibility allows families to choose what is best for them and the children. Boarding house students also enjoy weekend program that allow them to sample a wide variety of activities. There are plenty of weekend activities to participate in and also informal activities such as trips, Saturday shopping, site seeing, Cinema etc.
The boarding ethos at Danbo International College is based on a system of mutual understanding where the contributions of students is valid as that of the resident staff, so that rules which are mutually agreed are respected and enforced. The aim is to provide a safe, secure environment but one with challenges where students learn responsibility not just for themselves but are shown understating and offered guidance when things go wrong.
Achievements are noticed and celebrated, friendship are made, life skills learnt, morality and religion are encouraged but above all there is still time to be oneself, to be part of an extended family and learn and have School fun together.
The hostel operates a non-denomination religion. The Muslim worship in the Mosque while the Christians worship in the School Chapel. Through the participation in various aspects of the day-to-day running of the School, students become organisationally efficient and adopt interpersonal and team skills.
Meals are taken together in the dinning hall the students personal welfare is monitored and any concerns are dealt with sensitivity and efficiency.
Laundry and iron are done by the student in the designated area for laundry and iron; there is a separate section for boys and girls.
Throughout the School there is a sense of confidence, vibrancy and purposefulness. Everywhere there is evidence of enjoyment each School day brings to the students, whose keen sense of fun underlines their determination to do well.
