Junior Secondary School Education (JSS). View curriculum aims
The JSS is both pre-vocational and academic. Every student offers the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- English
- Language of the environment
- One major Nigeria Language (Hausa, Ibo or Yoruba)
- Integrated Science
- Social Studies
- Creative Studies (Music and Art)
- Practical Agriculture
- Religious Studies
- Physical Education
- Two Prevocational Subjects
The Pre-vocational subjects from whom any two may be selected are:
- Introductory Technology
- Local Craft
- Home Economics
- Business Studies

Schools, which have the required facilities, may also teach any or both of the non-vocational electives, which are:
- Arabic Studies
- French.
Evaluation and Certification
JSS: Evaluation and certification are based on the continuous assessment method and an end-of-course examination conducted by the Ministry of Education and NECO leading to the Junior School Certificate (J.S.C). |
